Jason Spraggs State Farm

A Policy of Building Relationships
Jason Spraggs bought his first home in Hillsborough in 2008. He had spent a stretch of years in New York and then Maryland before deciding to move back to New Jersey and start a family. He chose Hillsborough to do that, and his daughter grew up in town. He eventually moved to Somerville, close enough to stay rooted in the same area but near enough to his office to avoid the Route 206 traffic that came with his daily commute.
Before insurance, Spraggs worked at the PepsiCo building in Piscataway, where his job kept him on the road meeting with customers in person. When COVID put an end to that travel, someone from State Farm’s executive team reached out about becoming an agent, and Spraggs saw a new way to keep doing the same thing, connecting with people directly, just through insurance instead. The entrepreneurial instinct behind that decision was not new to him. He traces it back to high school in Jamaica, where he grew up before eventually settling in the United States.
That focus on connection still shapes how Spraggs runs his agency today. His goal in any conversation is not simply to sell a policy but to build a relationship, breaking coverage down in plain language rather than jargon so clients understand exactly what they are buying and why. If a policy is not the right fit at the time, he would rather follow up months or years later than push a sale that does not serve the client.
Spraggs is regularly recognized with State Farm’s Honor Club award, and in 2025 he was named to President’s Club, a recognition given to roughly 100 of State Farm’s 20,000 agents nationwide, ranking 50th in the country in the business insurance line specifically. He has also been part of Chairman’s Circle and Ambassador Club, the latter of which included a company trip to Spain, and he is licensed to write policies in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. In 2026, Spraggs completed his Chartered Financial Consultant designation and began additional securities coursework, work that could eventually allow him to expand into additional financial services.
Outside the office, Spraggs is a devoted soccer fan. He still plays when he can, watches as often as possible, and sometimes even travels to Europe to catch a match in person.
His advice to anyone shopping for insurance is to talk with more than one agent rather than relying on an online quote alone, and to make sure whoever they choose is a real local presence they can reach directly.
